A Story From Founder, Al Nixon
Kingdom Air Diary
Hello, this is Al Nixon founder of Kingdom Air. Diaries, for the most part are a big snooze for anyone except the author. That may be true in this case as well. While I don’t profess to have an exciting testimony it is, a testimony to Gods infinite patience, mercy and understanding.
Circa 1955:
As a boy I lived in the country in Oakfield Township near the middle of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. We lived on a farm but were not farmers except as helpers or hired hands as the occasion arose. Being an eight year-old I was not employed in the summer and spent it basically free to roam outside. While out there on a number of occasions I observed aircraft in the sky and not frequently but sometimes a jet. One day a military jet, I assumed a fighter, flew overhead and broke the sound barrier. I remember telling my mom that I was going to be a fighter pilot. That did not happen through a multitude of events, some of which were my making and some not.
1970
I had served 4 years in the U.S. Army, and was home living a life of young husband and father. Against family advice I borrowed $5000 to take flying lessons because that desire I had discovered as a child had not left me. I was able to successfully solo and then did not fly any more. The money had run out and there was not an opportunity to replenish it.
1994
Through a generous act by my wife, money became freed up to take flying lessons again. After about eight lessons I was certain that I would soon solo again and went for my medical certificate. I was a type II diabetic by now and was told that I could never fly and should stop wasting money on lessons. I did that.
2005
I began to grow spiritually at a faster rate than I had previously and I also began to long for flying again.
2006
While attending a Believer’s convention in Milwaukee I came to the realization that if God puts a dream in your heart, you have the choice to follow that dream or not, but it will never leave you. I began to think that my desire to fly was a gift from God. I did some research and found that there were circumstances under which a person with type II diabetes could indeed fly. One of those conditions was to get my disease under control either totally or with medication and only certain kinds of medications are unacceptable. Not knowing which, I took it on faith that mine were okay and I just needed to diet at least enough so that the medications would work. In Feb. 2007 my wife and I decided to change our lifestyle concerning food. Before many months had passed my blood sugar levels came under acceptable control. I also concluded that if God was going to let me fly, that I would need to do that flying for His Kingdom.
Oct. 2007
Matt Carpenter, pastor from Maine, came to our church and prophesied that I would indeed get my dream and fly and that I would fly as a ministry for God.
Feb. 2008
Mat was again at our church and confirmed his previous prophesy.
May 2008
I underwent my flight physical and submitted the results to the FAA in an appeal to be allowed to gain a medical certificate even with type II Diabetes.
July 2008
My medical certificate was returned for updated medical information. Provided and re-submitted.
Nov 12, 2008
I received my approved medical certificate from the FAA and began flying lessons. I am expecting to achieve private pilot status in the spring of 2009.
Dec. 2, 2008
We received documentation from the State of Michigan that Kingdom Air is a registered business name.
Dec. 19, 2008

Kurtis Green, our Webmaster and web designer, requested to become a member of Kingdom Air. I verified that he is of Christian faith and welcomed him aboard as a volunteer. As such he is willingly forfeiting further wages and agrees to perform all web work as at no charge. I assured him that as with us all, there will be times when a financial bonus is appropriate and he will receive those as will any member of Kingdom Air. Kurtis is young, but widely experienced in the field of Aviation, and also is working on becoming a pilot. He has expressed an interest in flying for Kingdom Air in the future as time and circumstances make it possible. Welcome aboard Kurt.
